It is with great joy that I’m able to write this as the last 2 years have been quite challenging due to COVID restrictions implemented for public safety. We once again were able to celebrate with our staff in unison marking a fantastic year of successful projects as well as successful staff growth in learning and within the company.
On November 27th, 2021, the Sheraton Cavalier under strict COVID entry protocol hosted our Christmas gala. Our attendance was approximately 80 people dressed in their best attire in a beautifully decorated festive environment. Upon entry after screening a nice custom ordered box of chocolates was given to all attendees. The chocolates were a fantastic idea put forth by Lorna Tirkalas as they came from an indigenous reserve in Winnipeg lending to our support of diversity.
The buffet dinner with pre appetizers was once again provided in a multicultural offering for all to enjoy our feast. From seafood to beef, fantastic sides and array of salads it was amazing. Let’s not forget the desert table adding a final colorful delicious finishing touch to energize the crowd for the entertainment portion of the evening.
With our illustrious leader Dean Lovric in attendance, he and Paul Tirkalas were asked to come up to the front of the crowd for announcements and presentations. Recognition needed to be brought to attention first for the entire YYC group and specifically to recognize the achievements of a few individuals.
SO, for the first time and for years to come some awards were created to shine the light on individuals that rose above and beyond “Leading By Example” in their daily duties representing AAI Corp in a fashion to be celebrated.
Charanjeet exemplified a yearning for growth starting out as a surveillance escort she rose up the ranks to now hold a D -AVOP, Security License and is one of our supervisors.
Don Egan. Don has been working at the airport for many years and possesses a wealth of knowledge in many areas both airside and in the terminal. He doesn’t shy away from the more demanding projects and enjoys being a leader helping others to grow in their understanding of YYC etiquette. A true leader!!
Pierre came to AAI from Air Canada and holds a multi RAIC. Very confident in his ways he was trained up and became a D-AVOP for AAI. Pierre in comparison would be a number 1 draft pick in any sport achieving the status he deserves. Each were given a beautiful memento recognizing their achievements with their names and pictures proudly displayed in the foyer of the Calgary office on plaques. Draws were announced as well as random dance picks being given nice gift cards. With the announcements and speeches now completed off we go for a night of dance and frolic. In my wildest dreams growing up with Italian polkas and disco I never thought that Bollywood would be the greatest music draw encouraging everyone to get on the dance floor. From individual to group involvement, it was truly a fun spectacle to be a part of and to witness. Fun was had by one and all really showing the support for one another and the great team we have in Calgary. It’s truly a pleasure to work with all our staff and to be a part of such a cohesive group.
