By keeping our vehicles well maintained at all times, it not only meets standards that are laid out by the airport authority for operating a vehicle airside here in Calgary. The YYC AVOP manual requirements are as follows for all vehicles that will be operated on airport property.
All vehicles will have the appropriate company marking, all lights and signals must be operational, vehicle glass must not be cracked so as not to obstruct the drivers view at any time while driving airside.
When we keep our fleet well maintained, we show a level of professionalism that many other operators at the airport are not able to match it also shows the people that we escort onto the airfield that we are professional and have no issues meeting the airport requirements.
This is important for our escorts because it sets a standard that we can show our customers. When we do our vehicle inspections before entering the airfield, we are showing the contractors what the standard is so that when we must refuse entry of a vehicle it makes for a good example, because we meet the standard requirements that are laid out by the YYC Airport Authority.
Having a good reporting system is integral to being able to keep our fleet always maintained and in top condition, but a good reporting system must be accompanied by a management team that will support and act on the reports that are given by the employees is just as important.
When we keep a fleet that is always maintained this directly affects our escorts, it will stop any arguments that may arise between the escorts about vehicles because all the vehicles are kept at the same standard, so it doesn’t matter which vehicle you get they are all in the same working condition.
