Never in my life history would I have ever thought that I would witness and experience what our world has been going through this past year. So many good people and businesses affected critically changing lives forever. Working for AAI as a vantage point I saw the impact of COVID exponentially to the airport and so many job losses.
Knowing our people quite well and understanding their financial and family positions it has been a pleasure to see everyone work together to get through some tough times.
Generally sad and bad occurrences are followed by happy days and this is a reason to celebrate. Firsthand involvement and with many compliments to our YYC staff the efforts were extraordinary to assist our staff as best as possible to spread and offer hours of employment where we could. The understanding of our COVID safety concerns and serious stance on keeping everyone healthy in our workplace was well received and understood.
Being born and raised in Calgary I can say my city is coming back to life. I have received so many calls from my hospitality friends telling me they are excited and ramping up business feeling good about the future. With restrictions being lifted more and more there is a positive energy that hasn’t been felt in a long time.
This feeling can be quickly witnessed in the terminal where now we have over 100 flights on the board with so many more people present and happy. Truly nice to see!!
In keeping with supporting our AAI family it has been decided to hold a staff barbeque on Sunday July 11th here at the AAI trailer.
We have some good volunteers and a great location to visit with our families and friends celebrating the opportunity to laugh and be merry once again. It was a special day for all attendees.
