If we want to avoid hitting the preverbal wall and avoid burn out, then we need to achieve a healthy work life balance; where do we start, take a step back, make a plan and then make it happen!
Tips for achieving a healthy work like balance:
1. Limit Perfectionism
Understanding the difference between working hard and perfection. Achieve excellence not perfection.
2. Leave Tasks and Projects at Work
It can be more difficult to disconnect now with the advances of technology. It’s important to set and follow clear boundaries for both work and personal life.
Don’t check your email after work hours, as soon as you check an email or answer the work phone then your personal time has to reset the clock again!
3. Guage Your Health
Both physical and emotional health are important factors. Take simple steps to promote your well-being by eating healthy, regularly exercising, and getting the right amount of sleep each night. Your physical and mental health are equally important.
4. Participate in Personal Hobbies
Remember we are not defined by what we do at work. Make time to schedule activities you enjoy!
5. Spend Time with Loved Ones
Make time for the important people in your life! Spend time with those who encourage, support and care about you. Schedule specific times or days to spend with these individuals and make sure you are free from work distractions.
6. Assess Your Personal Needs
A healthy work life balance is unique to us all, take an inventory of what is most important to you and what makes you happy and content.
7. Make it Your Own
Establish your own criteria for your individual work life balance as this is a unique formula for each of us.
8. Love Your Career
Be passionate about your job. If you love your job, you will feel more motivated and be more efficient.
